April & May Journal Prompt Calendars ~ FREEBIE

I needed a few new journal prompts to spice up my Work on Writing center in Daily 5. I wanted something that would keep my 2nd graders busy, but also give them a little bit of creativity in their writing.  I created these journal prompt calendars for April and May. Just download, print, laminate, and then put in your writing centers.

You can get these as a FREEBIE right now. Just click on the links below each picture to get the calendar you want. I didn't include dates so that these journal prompts can be used every year! Enjoy!

Candyland Birthday Party Preview & Invitation

My 2nd oldest daughter is turning 4 in April. We are getting excited! (I'm probably more excited because that means I get to throw another party!! Wahoo!!) My daughter absolutely LOVES CANDY! Most days when I ask my kids what we should have for dinner, without fail, she will suggest "candy?!" And with her cute dimples, pretty blue eyes, and golden curls, she can almost get away with having that!

Since she has such a love of candy, I thought why not do a Candyland themed birthday party! We recently bought the board game for my girls, and it is becoming one of their favorite games.

There are so many good ideas gathering in my mind thanks to sleepless nights, friends/family, and searching online. I'm so excited! Here is a preview of what is to come!

This is a sample of the invitation I made for her birthday party. I think it turned out so cute! (I'm a little biased of course! I think she is a doll!)  I can't wait to share everything else we end up doing for her party!

Stay tuned for more from her cute party! I know it's going to be so fun!

Spring Break Bathroom Makeover

Last week was my spring break from school. It was so nice to have a week break to get to spend time with my girls, my husband, and of course my creative brain!

I have been wanting to redo our bathroom for a little while now, but I couldn't find the perfect shower curtain. With it being spring break, a trip to good old Ross was much over due! Low and behold, they had the perfect shower curtain I had been waiting for. (and of course it was a bargain at only $5.99!) I love the big, bold floral print.

I needed something to put on the wall beside the shower curtain. I had a 12x12 frame I bought at the thrift store just sitting around. I added a coordinating piece of scrapbook paper, and viola! The perfect wall art!

The next part to my bathroom, was replacing the old towel holder. I didn't take a before picture of it because, well... it was pretty dirty and ugly. (hence...the needed bathroom makeover!)

I was searching for something I would like online, but couldn't find anything specific I liked. I ended up transferring a coat hanger rack from another part of my house to hold the towels. It works pretty great! Lots of towel hanging potential! The last step was figuring out something to put over the towel hooks. I had a big bare wall. I came up with these! I think these bathroom signs turned out really cute! Add in some new towels and bath mats, and this bathroom makeover is done! I love how it turned out!

You can grab these adorable bathroom signs as a FREEBIE if you click the link below. They are a 5x7 download! Enjoy!!

Spring Rebus Story FREEBIE

Another great writing activity my 2nd grade students love to do during Daily 5 for Work on Writing is a rebus story. You know you love them too!! Remember the stories with the pictures for words? I remember reading them as a kid in Highlights magazine or other kid magazines we had around the house. Students love to write their own rebus stories too!

I have created many of these for each season or holiday. Here is my Spring Rebus Story as a FREEBIE! Grab it today for a fun spring writing!

St. Patrick's Day Writing FREEBIE

Do you need a quick idea for a St. Patrick's Day writing center? I created this writing prompt for my 2nd grade students to use during their Work on Writing center during the week of St. Patrick's day.

I hope your students enjoy this writing as much as mine do!

Welcome to My New Adventure!

Welcome to my new adventure...

I've been wanting to start this blog for a while now, and I'm finally making the plunge.

A little bit about me...

I'm Becca! I teach 2nd grade during the day, I am a mommy to 3 adorable little girls at night and on weekends, and I have the love to create new things and throw parties whenever I can. My loving husband is very patient with all his girls and is very supportive of my new adventure.

A little bit about this site...

Teach ~ I love making new things for my classroom and will be posting things to download and make work for other classrooms. I've been teaching for almost 5 years now and know that sometimes teaching is about survival and of course, all about sharing your secrets! Let's face it, as teachers we are all in this together! ;)

Create ~ I love creating new things...projects, crafts, sewing, home decor, recipes, etc. You name it, I'd love to try to make it!

Party ~ My last passion is parties. I love any excuse to throw a party. You only live once, so why not make life festive and have a party. I love being a mom, which means I get to throw at least 3 birthday parties a year! It gives me a great excuse to plan and execute the perfect party! Parties bring family and friends together!

That's a little bit about me and my new adventure. Please stop by often for some great ideas!
